Güntner drycoolers cool compensators in the US power grid: In the substations of a power grid a small percentage of the throughput rate is always lost as heat. This thermal loss has to be dissipated safely and with the least possible effort via a fluid circuit into ambient air.
For this purpose, a customised cooling system was developed that satisfies the extremely high demands of power transmission systems. Güntner drycoolers were selected for the substation for various reasons. Bernhard Neundörfer, general manager of the company Anlagenbau Neundörfer, emphasizes: "Güntner excels in everything: Quality, delivery date and technical service."
Güntner drycoolers were therefore also selected for the nine mile substation located nine miles upstream of New Orleans. Because drycoolers are equipped with more fans – in the nine mile substation a drycooler has 4 x 4 axial fans plus two spare fans – the heat dissipation can be adjusted exactly to the current needs.
