Environmental Engineering
In power engineering and environmental engineering, cooling circuits are used for various purposes. In conventional power plants, for example, process water is cooled - an environmentally friendly and also necessary procedure that ensures that no heated cooling water is led into rivers.

In power plants, cooling towers are pre-cooled for maintaining the plant's efficiency. In biomass plants the temporarily not used waste heat is dissipated. In wind power plants the plant's efficiency is enhanced by cooling the generators. Also rectifiers, transformers and emergency power plants have to be cooled to ensure their constant performance. Cooling and air conditioning is required for various purposes in the power engineering and environmental engineering sector.
